Bible verses about love. Do you know yours?
LOVE. Does it come forth from the heart or from the head?
At times, my son makes me very upset. It is those times that I will just ignore him for an hour or two and my heart just felt anger and sadness at the same time. However, despite my feelings at that time, does it mean I do not love him anymore?
Years back, when I was just a teenager, a back-sliden believer and I had not attended church for weeks, the LORD dragged me out from bed to attend the youth service. I heard Him telling me that I needed to go to church that day.
That day's sermon pierced my heart and brought me back to where I should belong...in His arms. I felt His overwhelming love enveloping me and I couldn't stop crying as I knelt at the altar.
Even when I was faithless, He was faithful. Even when I turned away from Him, He did not leave me nor forsake me. Even when I did not feel like loving Him anymore, He still loves me. To me, this is love. True love. Unconditional love from the Most High God who is also my Abba Father. (Gal 4:6)
Irregardless of how you feel today, know that your Abba loves you. The more you declare these bible verses about love today, the more you will be secure in Him.
1 John 4:16, 19
16 God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.
19 We love Him because He first loved us.
Even when you feel unloved, it does not mean so. Because the truth is, God is love Himself and He loves you very much. You may like to read more about the love of God for you by clicking here.
I remembered what my Pastor said during one of his sermons. With all reverence, he said God is love. If God cease to love, then God will cease to be God.
Of course, the scenario of God not loving us will never ever happen. So, if doubts set in, just remind yourself John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son.."
Is hate the opposite of love? What do you think? Well, I used to think hate is the opposite of love.
Hate, like anger, is a kind of feeling resulted from being fearful. It is possible to discard the feeling of hate but still feel fearful.
The Bible states very clearly that the opposite of love is fear.
Whenever you are in fear, declare these bible verses about love aloud.
1 John 4:17-18
17 Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world.
18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.
Fear keeps us away from God. That is why John keeps exhorting us to abide in the love of Christ.
John himself, knows the importance of abiding in the love of Christ. Even in his writings in the book of John, he never mentioned his own name. He only mentioned he is the disciple, whom Jesus loved. (John 13:23, 20:2)
John is the disciple who leaned on Jesus' bosom on the night when Jesus identified his betrayer. (John 13:18-30) He knows of God's love for him and he boasted of this love.
Peter, another disciple of Jesus is the one who always boasted about his love for Jesus (Matt 26:31-35). The two disciples are so different in the sense that one (John) boasted of Jesus' love for him while the other (Peter) boasted of his love for the LORD Jesus.
Looking to John as our example, let us boast of Christ's love for us. The more we boast of how much God loves us, the more we feel secure in His love.
It is easy to love people who love us. But how hard it is to love people who are at loggerheads with us! For this kind of people, we need to love them willfully.
There is no better advice than this..."He who covers a transgression seeks love, But he who repeats a matter separates friends." Proverbs 17:9
The above proverb is written by the wisest man ever lived. He is King Solomon.
Here is another bible verse about love in 1 Peter 4:8 And above all things have fervent love for one another, for "love will cover a multitude of sins."

John 15:12-13
"This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends.
Romans 8:38-39 (This is one of my favorite bible verses about love.)
For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our LORD.
1 Corinthians 13:4-8
Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails...
1 Thessalonians 5:8
But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation.
